I have decided to standardized on Z-Stuff For Trains accessories I believe this company offers top of the line signals, IR detectors, relays and other electronic systems. If you need product not listed on my store (including HO) please contact me and I will order.
All signals except the cantilevers have built in detectors. Only two wires (power and common) are needed to operate the signal.
The DZ-1011R or DZ-1012 can be used in conjunction with the DZ-1008 relay to indicate turnout point rail position. Place electrical tape over the sensor on the DZ-1011R / DZ-1012. Connect the detector to a DZ-1008 which in turn is connected to the turnout machine's two outputs.
If you want a signal to turn before a train passes its built in sensor then the DZ-1070 or DZ-1075 can be used to control the signal. Place electrical tape over the signal's sensor and connect the signal to the DZ-1070/1075 detector. The detector can be placed anywhere on the model train board next to a track.
In the photo one DZ-1070 detector is placed on the diverging side of the turnout and connected to the bottom signal head. An another DZ-1070 is placed on the through side further down the track (not shown in photo) and is connected to the top signal head.
The DZ-1075 / A / M detectors can be used to control signals from other manufacturers such as MTH or Lionel.
In the photo a DZ-1075 is placed on the entrance outside the photo and is connected to one set of signals on the MTH cantilever signal bridge. Another DZ-1075 is placed on the diverging track and connected to the other signal set.
Z-Stuff detectors are much more compact and look more prototypical then Lionel or MTH detectors.
The DZ-1000 switch motor is simple to connect for non-derail. Isolate the inside rails of the tracks leading into the turnout and connect a wire to the appropriate output of the switch motor. That is all there is to it.
